PROJECT SECTION

Regeneration (NEW)

Focused on change over time, these projects involve children and young people in rethinking places, contributing ideas and perspectives that influence how communities evolve and grow.

Social Value

Initiatives for children/young people created as part of a Social Value commitment by built environment practices/companies and local authorities.

Skills development

Opening pathways into the built environment, these initiatives support children and young people to build skills, explore interests, and develop confidence for future opportunities.

Strategic Vision (NEW)

Looking ahead, this work shapes policy, systems, or long-term thinking, drawing on children and young people’s perspectives to influence more inclusive and responsive approaches.

Heritage

Focused on change over time, these projects involve children and young people in rethinking places, contributing ideas and perspectives that influence how communities evolve and grow.

Climate Change

Responding to environmental challenges, these projects support children and young people to explore climate issues, contribute ideas, and take part in shaping more sustainable futures.

Culture / Education (NEW)

Rooted in creativity and expression, these initiatives invite children and young people to explore identity, tell stories, and shape how places are experienced and understood.

Healthy Spaces

Centred on wellbeing, this work explores how environments affect everyday life, with children and young people helping shape spaces that support healthier, happier communities.

Material resources and research

From toolkits to research, these contributions generate knowledge and practical resources, often shaped by children and young people, to support better engagement

Community Engagement

Bringing people together through shared spaces and local action, these projects show how children and young people help build connection, belonging, and stronger communities.

International Award for Climate Change (NEW)

International projects addressing environmental challenges through practical activities, education, and creative initiatives.

Best of Development Company

Developers, housing associations, investors who with the initiatives they have commissioned or encouraged, create outstanding activities that engage children and young people in built environment issues.

Best of Local Authority

Local authorities that has developed one or more relevant built environment related programmes for children and/or young people.

Best of Built Environment Practice

Practices that embed children and young people in their social value commitments and strategies/projects, demonstrating a commitment to positive impact within the built environment.

Best of Not for Profit Organisation

Not for profit organisations with one of its primary aims is to produce built environment programmes for children and young people.

Young Talent (previously - Emerging Individual)

An emerging individual practitioner, whether they work independently or as part of a team, who has made an excellent contribution to our theme ‘Inspiring Future Generations’.

Individual of the Year (previously - Established Individual)

An established individual practitioner, whether they work independently or as part of a team, who has made an excellent contribution to our theme ‘Inspiring Future Generations’.

One off Programme Activity

Focused on change over time, these projects involve children and young people in rethinking places, contributing ideas and perspectives that influence how communities evolve and grow.

The Inspire Future Generations Awards are open to practitioners, architects, urbanists, engineers and other built environment professionals, local authorities, construction industries, not for profits and built environment organisations from the UK and beyond.
