What is the Inspire Future Generations Awards scheme aiming achieve?

To date, there has been no programme of awards to acknowledge educationalists and built environment professionals whose expertise, passion and energy have introduced future generations to architecture and the built environment and provide a voice in their future environment. Launched in 2021 the IFG Awards will lead on recognising and celebrating best practice in this emerging and vitally important field. 

Eligibility?

Each of the awards has separate criteria. Broadly speaking they are open to practitioners, architects and other built environment professionals, local authorities, construction industry, not for profits and built environment organisations. All entries must have been completed within the last 3 years. Please see the entry criteria for each award.

When will the Award applications process be open to submit?

The application forms will be available online from Monday 24th June 2024.

How do I make an application?

Applications are made online through simple forms on our website. Unfortunately we can’t accept applications through any other method. Applications should be written in English.

Can I make multiple submissions?

There are 3 separate entry forms; one for project submissions, one ‘Best’ category, and one for Individual of the Year (emerging/established). You can make as many submissions on each initiative as you like, against different themes and subjects.

Is there an entry cost?

There is a fee of £59.00 per entry for individuals and small not for profits, and £99.00 for built environment companies, local authorities & institutions. These fees cover our running and admin costs for which we are thankful for your honesty at the time of entering.

There is no fee for submitting a nomination under the Inspiring individual of the year category either as 'emerging' or 'established' but is required to be part of one of the categories entered to the IFG Awards 2023.

TET retains the right to amend category entered where appropriate.

What are some of the assessment criteria?

Impact – For instance, what is the overall impact of your project, what are the tangible benefits to children and young people, how have you been able to measure them, has it met its objectives.

Innovation – uniqueness of the initiative. For instance if new, how has it had a transformative effect.

Insights – what this tells us about best practice. For instance, what are the best practices learned from the initiative, how is this being shared, how far-reaching is the scope of the initiative, what are the challenges that arose and how did you overcome them, lessons learned

Metrics - How many children and young people has it engaged, did all stay the course of the projects, when did it begin?

Does the project, organisation or individual need to be based in the UK?

Yes but there is a specific category for non UK which will have 3 sub categories.

International non-profit organisation: Recognising an outstanding organisation outside the UK whose primary aim is to deliver built environment programmes for children/young people.

What information do I have to provide?

All forms have a few short sections where relevant information is requested, plus the opportunity to upload no more than 4 sides of A4 which may include photos, press, stats, testimonials etc (max 10mb). Please note you cannot change your application after it has been submitted.

Individual of the Year nomination requests information on an individual whether working independently or as part of a team - who has gone the extra mile and made an outstanding contribution to the field of architecture engagement. The Inspiring Individual of the Year category either as 'emerging' or 'established' is required to be part of one of the categories entered to the IFG Awards 2023 or member of a winning category in 2022 or 2023. Third party nominations only accepted.

Please note: There is a save function on the form. A full copy of your application will be automatically emailed to you after submission.

How are the award winners selected?

An independent panel of leaders in education and the built environment select the winners, after carefully reviewing all entries.

Deadlines

The deadline for submissions is Monday 21st October Inspire Future Generations Awards and Reception (TBC) Begin December 2024

Judges include (final list TBC):

Neil Pinder, awarded AJ100 Contribution to the Profession Award, Helen Santer, BuildStudios, Sue Morgan, Former CEO Landscape Institute, and Julia Nicholls

When and how will I hear if I have won?

We will advise all shortlisted winners in writing in November.

TET reserves the right to announce winners first, and the manner and details of announcing this is at our discretion. 

Unfortunately it may not be possible to correspond with unsuccessful applicants.

Please note: Fees can’t be refunded should you choose to withdraw.

TET reserves the right to publish and promote all content and imagery from submissions and you agree that relevant photography licences/permissions have been obtained. You agree that to the best of your knowledge we are free to use any images supplied to us, and grant TET permission to use these on our website and in any associated publicity without infringement of copyright. Credit line should be supplied.

Can I sponsor an award?
